Every Sunday until August 4, 2024

One of the striking things about the Bible is the variety of its literary genres: from history to prophecy, from Law to Gospel, Acts to apocalyptic, the breadth is amazing.  In the middle of our Bibles, we find, of all things, poetry.  Proverbs provides practical wisdom for a vast array of life circumstances, helping us stay tethered to God through life's twists and turns, beginning with this anchor point: "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."  The Psalms teach us how to speak to God, with a range of emotions and experiences that is stunning. Honesty, transparency, vulnerability, disappointment, despair.  Hope, confidence, deliverance, thanksgiving, praise.

This summer, we're heading out on a road trip to the middle of our Bibles, in order to find wisdom for the journey, and to find language that helps us connect with God in, well, everything, everyday.  On our road trip we'll be struck by the practicality of poetry, and challenged by God's invitation to bring the challenges and joys of our lives - every one of them - before Him.  And we'll learn and enjoy and be refreshed by meeting God in the middle of our real lives, in the middle of our Bibles.
